Summer holidays over? Got that back to school feeling? Well why not finish off your first week by giving us a piece of your mind!
That’s why we are inviting you to a facilitated get together of the sector, to explore issues around access to the arts in Wales and any impacts you feel affect access following recent Arts Council of Wales funding cuts. We will use the collated responses to submit written evidence to the Communities and Culture Committee Inquiry into the accessibility of arts and cultural activities in Wales. Voluntary Arts Wales has also been given a slot to present to this committee verbally on the 13 October 2010.
Please come to the event if you possibly can and tell us what you think – we really want to make sure all your voices are heard. The event will be facilitated by Fran Medley. Tea and coffee will be served and lunch can be purchased at the centre afterwards if required. Please confirm your attendance with Sioned Best at james@maesygof.plus.com We look forward to seeing you there.

One of the National Assembly's scrutiny committees is conducting an inquiry into the accessibility of arts and cultural activities in Wales. In particular, the Communities and Culture Committee will look into the following:

- the impact of the Arts Council for Wales’s Investment Review, published in June 2010, on all cultural activities and venues in Wales;
- the possible impact of the Welsh Government’s budget for 2011-12 on all cultural activities and venues in Wales;
- the geographic spread of venues and activities and how access is promoted across Wales;
- the demographic variation in levels of attendance and participation, particularly in the context of equality, diversity and inclusion;
- the key role played by local authorities in providing access to arts and cultural activities.
The deadline for responses is 24 September 2010. Voluntary Arts Wales will be making a written response and has been given a slot to make a presentation to the Committee on 13 October 2010. Please contact us by email: info@vaw.org.uk if you would like us to include your comments in the response.
